Title: A user model adaptive ubiquitous learning system

Abstract:

A learner may always connect to the internet by using different devices such as mobile phones, PDAs, desktop computers, and notebooks through wired or wireless networks. Therefore, a learning system should fully utilize the ubiquitous computing environment to improve the learning performance or to develop different learning models. At the same time, the learning system should know the learning status of a leaner and provide proper knowledge and learning activities to a learner. In this talk, we will present the design and implementation of ubiquitous or mobile learning systems. The systems are composed of (1) a knowledge base (curriculum courseware), (2) a student model constructor, and (3) a learning activities arranger. The knowledge base and activity arranger provide information and issue learning activity based on the student model and the learning carrier of a learner.  Experiments and data are also presented to evaluate the proposed learning systems.
