title : ArtsConnectEd: Teachers Using Online Resources from Museums

ABSTRACT:
  ArtsConnectEd is a Website developed to give teachers access to two  museum collections: the Walker Art Center and The Minneapolis  Institute of Arts, both in Minneapolis, Minnesota. ArtsConnectEd  presents not only digital images of works of art, but tools that  allow teachers to access information in a variety of ways.
  ArtsConnectEd developed a statewide network for training teachers to  integrate ArtsConnectEd resources in traditional teaching techniques.
  This presention will include both the development of the Website and  the plan and implementation of the teacher training  program,  designed to promote the ArtsConnectEd Web site in classrooms across  Minnesota. The program goals are a model for other museums  considering teacher training programs:

1) create a laboratory for meaningful classroom applications of online resources;

2) create a  community that sustains the use of online resources;

3) build bridges between classroom cultures  and art museum cultures;

4) increase sophistication of teachers\' use of online resources; and

5) expand teachers\' general use of technology .
