Training & Promotion for Digital Archives Project: Taiwan Experience

 

Training & Promotion Division, National Digital Archives Program Office is a sub-project of National Digital Archives Program (NDAP) which is sponsored by the National Science Council.  The Training & Promotion Division began its function in January of 2002 with the NDAP.

In its first year, the Division organized training courses, conferences, and workshops for participants of the NDAP participants as well as librarians, archivists, and people from the industry.  In order to promote the use of the outputs of NDAP, i.e., Taiwan Digital Archives, the Division offered several workshops to elementary and high school teachers.  A contest of instructional design was held and the winners were invited to demonstrate their works.  The Division also attended the 2002 Taipei International Book Exhibition, conducted promotional activities with the media, distributed news in electronic newsletter, maintained a website, etc.  Objectives of activities initiated by the Division were as follows: 1. To offer training courses for people involved in the digital library or digital archives; 2. To assist professionals in libraries, museums, and archives to understand the development of digital archive technology; 3. To strengthen the elementary and high school teachers' abilities of using digital archive resources; 4. To invoke public interests in digital archives ; and 5. To promote the outputs of the National Digital Archives Program.
