Gwo-dong Chen was born in Tainan, Taiwan, on Sept. 5, 1957. He received the B.S., M.S., and Ph. D. degrees in Electrical Engineering from National Taiwan University in 1979, 1982, 1990 respectively.

 

He joined the faculty of the Department of Electrical Engineering, National Central University, Taiwan as a lecturer in 1973. He became an associate professor since 1990. Since 2000, he has been a full professor at the Department of Computer Science & Information Engineering, National Central University. He is the chair of Department of Computer Science and Information Engineering, National Central University from August 2002.

 

Dr. Chen current research is on designing, deploying, and evaluation of e-learning systems on pervasive computing environments. The researches are to apply educational and social psychology theories in devising learner models and group models in order to develop a user model adaptive learning web. He received the Distinguished Research Awards of the National Science Council of the Republic of China in 2001-2002.  Since Sept. 2002, he is a group leader of Digital Learning National Science and Technology National project (2003-2008).
