Joyce Ray is Associate Deputy Director for Library Services at the U.S.
Institute of Museum and Library Services.
She has been with IMLS since 1997.
She is an archivist by training and was previously with the National
Archives and Records Administration, where she worked in appraisal, policy and
planning, and the National Historical Publications and Records Commission, the
funding arm of the National Archives.
Before moving to Washington, she was head of Special Collections at The
University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio. She received both her Master’s degree
in Library Science and Ph.D. in American history from the University of Texas
at Austin.
