Multimedia Intelligent and Wireless Networked Living Technologies--NCKU Aspire Home for Quality Life

In this fast growing digital world, the design of a rich 
multimedia, intelligent control, and computerized home becomes an 
inevitable and exciting trend for the improvement of human lives. 
However, without considerations of human factor and human nature
interaction, our daily life with high-end equipments will only
increase more and more un-integrated remote controllers and 
handheld devices. Hence, we hope to integrate a demo house, which
 provides tightly coupled multimedia intelligent living services 
such that the people could have a totally innovated high quality 
living space. The intelligent home should seamlessly link human 
needs through virtual and physical smart products to provide a 
totally-integrated and secure environment. The integration of the 
developed information communication technology (ICT) figured with
intelligent architecture designs and smart living products will be 
the important ICT competition in the world. Through the collected 
intelligence, European Living Labs also plan to achieve the 
creative design from users point of view.
The National Cheng Kung University (NCKU) organized with 
multiple disciplines gradually shows her competency in the 
development of smart living technologies with the world famous 
media research centers. The Aspire Home for Quality Life in the NCKU
has completed the basic constructions of Creative Art Exhibition
Corridor, 4D Virtual Reality Room, Digital Garden, Smart Kitchen 
Room, Smart Bed Room, Smart Study Room, and Smart Living Room. In 
this talk, the design concept of the NCKU Aspire Home will be first 
addressed. Then, the overview of Aspire Home with some live video
demos will be introduced. Finally, the future research activities 
in the NCKU related to the Center for Human-centric Smart Living 
Technology Research will be present.
