Abstract:
Our recent work showed that it is possible to derive information about function, dynamics and evolution directly from a single protein structure. This can be done without using a mechanical model or methods based on structure or sequence comparison. Our results show that a protein structure is more than just a scaffold holding residues in place and that there is a meaning in every twist and turn in a protein structure.
