Abstract:

Recent studies point to the intrinsic ability of proteins to undergo conformational changes that are relevant to their biological functions. These intrinsic abilities appear to be conferred to a large extent by the overall shape of a protein. The talk will first give a general account in techniques exploring protein intrinsic dynamics including the ones we have been developing.

A newly devised, universal, parameter-free approach to define the intrinsic dynamic domains (IDDs) of proteins will be introduced. Our
results show that proteins dock into each other with clear dynamics predispositions in their IDD orientations such that the domain planes
of proteins cut through their docking partners, and also the Domain axes meet vertically, suggesting proteins in the complexes are
dynamically silent in the direction of their docking pairs’vibrant movements.
