VCenter - A Digital Video Archive System of NDAP Taiwan

In order to facilitate the management and access of digital video archives, we developed and integrated several techniques to deal with digital video archives. These techniques include:

1. Video transcoding – Convert MPEG-2 files into streaming WMV and RM formats for internet transmission.

2. Shot detection, key frame extraction, and video summarization – Detect scene changes as shot boundaries, select key frames as shot representations, and generate summaries by extracting short segments from shots.

3. Caption and speech recognition – Automaticly recognize captions and speech in video.

4. Multimodal search – Perform both metadata search and speech search.

5. Non-linear editing – Provide a friendly user interface for video content editing.

6. Watermarking – Embed watermark into frames of a video file.

In this demo, we will show the site: Taiwan's Social and Humanities Video Archive, to which the developed technigues were applied.
