In order to
extensively and diversely display various aspects of Taiwan and to weave
Taiwanese collective memory, NDAP Content Development Division launched “Cyber
Island Platform” in May 2006. “Cyber Island” is divided into two parts:
newsletter and audiovisual repository. For the part of the newsletter, we have
already delivered five issues. We’d like to share with the general public the
news, ideas, and experiences related to digital archive and cyberspace via
various subjects and copious yet easily-comprehended content. Combined with
audiovisual repository in the future, the newsletter would be better presenting
the richness of Taiwanese cultural diversities. As for the audiovisual
repository, we conduct the collection mainly by soliciting external
contributions and by allowing free uploading. Apart from the main collections,
we also host such activities as photo contests, presentation conferences and
publications of photo albums. We hope to inspire all citizens of Taiwan to
participate and collaboratively construct our own precious Taiwanese
memory.
Main
purposes:
-
Collect
and display digitalized photographs on the platform.
-
Enrich
the content of digital archives.
-
Present
Taiwan’s cultural diversities.
-
Spread
knowledge of digital life and the practice of digital archive
technologies.
Target Users:
-
The
public.
-
Local
experts in cultural and historical domain.
-
Valuable
photographs and audiovisual content owners outside of the non-solicited
projects of NDAP.
“Cyber
Island Platform” is continuously improving its functions. Right now, we are
collaborating with the Research and Development Division of NDAP for the
enhancement of audiovisual file uploading.
