Computer account and personal homepage
When the new empolyee registers at the personnel office, he/she will receive an account application form. Please fill in the form and send it to Room 308, new building. Our staff will create an account for you and give you a default password. Please change your password at
https://iiswww.iis.sinica.edu.tw/CCS/ChangePassword/. The account will be canceled after leaving the job for a month. Your personal homepage is at http://www.iis.sinica.edu.tw/~accountname .
To edit your homepage please connect to ccs1, ccs2 via ssh or Samba. The document root is located at the public_html directory under the home directory. The default index file is index.htm or index.html. You can also use
https://iiswww.iis.sinica.edu.tw/IIS/portal/adm to create a default personal homepage.（

Please remember to replace accountname to your account. You can also put your name between the "title" tag. If you want to show the chinese page first, please change "eindex.html" to "cindex.html".
For people not employee of IIS, please have the application form fill in and sign by a research fellow, and also send it to the computer center. The account is valid for one year.
VPN account
Every account in IIS has two passwords, one for NIS/YP and the other for Samba. NIS/YP provides services such as email (SMTP、SMTPs、POP3、POP3s、IMAP、IMAPs), workstation (ccs1、ccs2、mail), and web services in "internal affairs" section. Samba provides services including MS/Windows network neighborhood, public printers, dial-up Internet access, and VPN. Among them, only the VPN service needs a separate application.
For your information safety, do not lend your account. Your account will be canceled permanently if there's any regulation violation or deliberate system damages are caused. Please do not use simple passwords (at least 6 characters).
