Mail Server Settings of IIS
POP3/IMAP server: mail.iis.sinica.edu.twFormat of Email Address
POP3, IMAP, POP3s, IMAPs mail services are available in IIS networks. Only POP3s and IMAPs are avaiable outside of IIS networks.
Outgoing(SMTP) server: mail.iis.sinica.edu.tw
SMTP and SMTPs are available in IIS networks. Only SMTPs is avaiable outside of IIS networks.
Mail address: username@iis.sinica.edu.tw. "username" is your account name.
- Domain Name
The address is in the format of username@iis.sinica.edu.tw
username->your account
iis->Institute of Information Science
sinica->Academia Sinica
edu->educational institute
tw->Taiwan
If the receiver is in the same domain as yours, the domain can be omitted.
For example, if you send to adm@iis.sinica.edu.tw, the address can be abbreviated as adm@iis.
On the other hand, if you send to John in UIUC, the address cannot be abbreviated and needs to be john@uxa.cso.uiuc.edu
- IP
Another type of format uses IP address, such as username@\[ip_address\]. For example if you send to hsu in the computer center, the address can be hsu@\[140.109.14.2\].
Auto-forwarding helps you forward the mails in your iis mailbox to your other accounts. This can be set in the auto-forwarding function on webmail.Auto-Reply
- Log in to webmail
- Spread "mail", and click on "forwards"
- Input the other email address to "Set/install a forward to"
- Check "Keep a copy in your local mailbox?" to save the email also in your mailbox. (The system will ask you to enter your password when you save the setting for confirmation.)
When you are abroad or on a vacation, the system can help you reply the mails. Please use webmail to set up this function.
- Log in to webmail
- Spread "mail", and click on "Vacation"
- Input the subject, from, message that you would like to reply. (The system will ask you to enter your password when you save the setting for confirmation.)
