Deterministic Chinese Parsing
Using Formal Semantics

        We present a deterministic Chinese parsing methodology using formal semantics to combine syntactic and semantic analysis. The semantic rules are described in detail, It is shown that the parsing algorithm can be realized by a linear-bounded automaton. We also present an implementation of this parsing algorithm for an experimental Chinese CAI system to teach students how to use the Chinese abacus.
