In this paper, a new approach for botanical tree construction by computer is proposed. Two operations are developed to construct regular and irregular shape of trees conveniently. The first operation provides users with a set of parameters to construct the desired regular shapes of branches and leaves. The second operation provides users with a few modification functions to construct the imagined irregular shape of trees. 3D graphical simulation results are given to illustrate the feasibility and effectiveness of the proposed approach.
Keywords: botanical tree construction, parametric design, solid modeling
