Aim & Scope
The designs of high-performance operating systems and adaptive applications
must take into account a wide variety of constraints: performance, code size,
presence of real-time tasks, maintainability, and possibly scalability. This
special issue provides a forum for the presentation of high-quality, original
research covering all aspects of Operating systems and Adaptive Applications
design, analysis, implementation, evaluation, and case-studies. Solutions
might be proposed at different levels of abstractions, making use of an
assortment of tools and methodologies. Researchers and practitioners would
have a chance to propose new ideas and to compare experimentations. Major
topics of interest include but are not limited to the following:
- Operating systems and adaptive applications practice
- Networking, storage simulation techniques for operating
systems
- Distributed operating systems or parallel operating systems
- Embedded operating systems and adaptive applications for
mobile computing
- Testing, debugging, profiling, and performance analysis
for operating systems
- Special-purpose appliances and applications
- Fault tolerance and robustness for operating systems
- Scheduling and discrete optimization of systems with timing
constraints
- Schedulability analysis of real-time applications
- System Security
- Modeling issues and case studies
This special issue of JISE Journal will be devoted to Operating Systems
and Adaptive Applications. It is meant primarily to contain papers presented
at the OSAA Track of ACM Symposium on Applied Computing 2007 and 2008. Nevertheless
the special issue is open to submission of papers from other authors.
Submission Guidelines
Prospective authors are invited to submit research contributions representing
original, previously unpublished work. Submitted papers will be carefully
evaluated based on originality, significance, technical soundness, and clarity
of exposition. Authors should follow the JISE (http://www.iis.sinica.edu.tw/page/jise/InstructiontoAuthors.html)
manuscript format as described in the Information for the Authors. Five copies
of complete double spaced manuscripts and an electronic file using Word,
or plain text should be sent to the Guest Editor Dr. Sung Y. Shin, Sung.shin@sdstate.edu,
with clear indication that submission is for the Journal of Information
Science and Engineering. All manuscripts should include a title page containing
the title of the paper, full names and affiliations, complete postal and
electronic addresses, phone and fax numbers, an abstract, and allots of keywords.
The contacting author should be clearly identified.
