Juang, Der-Ming, graduated from the Department of Information Science, National Chiao Tung University in 1984, got a Master degree from The Institute of Computer Management, National Tsing Hua University in 1986, then he enrolled in the Chung-shan Institute of Science and Technology. After being discharged from the military in 1992, he has been serving in the Institute of Information Science, Academia Sinica for over 15 years and is an assistant research engineer presently.

        From the beginning of serving in the Academia Sinica, he commenced designing Hypertext Retrieval System for ancient Chinese document and Chinese Glyph Structure Database. After 1995, he has been devoted to constructing Chinese Glyph Structure Database, resolving the unencoded Chinese character problems and digitization of Wen-zi-xue(philology).
