 Fu Chang received B.A. in Philosophy from National Taiwan University in 1973, M.S. in Mathematics from North Carolina State University in 1978, and Ph.D. in Mathematical Statistics from Columbia University in 1983. He worked as assistant professor in the Department of Applied Mathematics, Operations Research and Statistics, State University of New York at Stony Brook (1983--84), member of Technical Staff at Bell Communications Research, Inc. (1984--86) and at AT&T Bell Laboratories (1986--90). He joined the Institute of Information Science as associate research fellow in 1990.
Fu's current research activities are focused on document analysis and recognition, and cognitive science.
