Li-Wei Kang received his B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. degrees all from the Department of Computer Science and Information Engineering, National Chung Cheng University (CSIE/CCU), Chiayi, Taiwan, in Jun. 1997, Jul. 1999, and Jan. 2005, respectively. He has been with the Institute of Information Science, Academia Sinica (IIS/AS), Taipei, Taiwan, as an Assistant Research Scholar since Aug. 2010. From Oct. 2005 to Jul. 2010, he worked for IIS/AS as a postdoctoral research fellow. He was with CSIE/CCU as an adjunct lecture during Aug. 2000 to July 2001. His research interests include multimedia content analysis and multimedia communications. Dr. Kang served as an Editorial Advisory Board Member for the book, Visual Information Processing in Wireless Sensor Networks: Technology, Trends and Applications, IGI Global, 2011, a Guest Editor of Special Issue on Advance in Multimedia, Journal of Computers, Taiwan, 2010, a co-organizer/co-chair, special session on Advanced Techniques for Content-Based Image/Video Resizing, 2011 Visual Communication and Image Processing Conference (VCIP2011), special session on Image/Video Processing and Analysis, 2011 APSIPA Annual Summit and Conference (APSIPA ASC 2011), and a reviewer/TPC member for several international conferences and journals. He won the two paper awards presented by 2006 and 2007 Computer Vision, Graphics, and Image Processing Conferences, Image Processing and Pattern Recognition Society (IPPR), Taiwan, respectively. He is a Member of IEEE and IPPR.
