Dear Asia OSS Round Table Members;
This is Tomoko Asai @ CICC.
CICC has been decided to hold the next 6th Asia OSS Symposium
in Colombo, Sri Lanka in September.
Center of International Cooperation for Computerization (CICC),
Information and Communication Technology Agency, Sri Lanka
(ICTA) and University of Colombo, School of Computing,
will hold the 6th Asia Open Source Software Symposium
from September 6th to 8th, in Colombo, Sri Lanka.
This time, we would like to discuss the concrete cooperative
ways based on the "Beijing Statement". Also, we would like to
invite official organization, academia, community side participants,
focusing on OSS from HRD and localization point of view.
As one of the Asia OSS Symposium activities, Code Fest will be hold.
For the 6th Asia OSS Symposium, we would like to nominate
2-3 participants from each economy (19 economies) ;
1) one Full-Funded participant (supported by CICC)
Those who will be entitled only for public or non-profit
organization,
not for commercial company people.
2) Private participants (supported by own expenses)
The 6th Asia OSS Symposium will become one of the events
of the "1st Sri Lanka Free and Open Source Software (FOSS) week"
from Sep. 5th to 10th, considering Sep. 10 is Software Freedom Day,
Purposes of this event are;
-Bring recognition to Sri Lanka by hosting international FOSS
conference
-Promote the use of FOSS solutions in Sri Lanka for the benefit of
Business, Government and Academia
-Bring awareness to Sri Lanka's FOSS capability and accomplishments
-Help brand Sri Lanka as a hub for FOSS development in Asia
The 1st FOSS week will be hosted by ICTA (ICT Agency), USCS
(University School of Computing), LKLUG (Lanka Linux Users Group),
LSF (Lanka Software Foundation).
Besides Asia OSS Symposium, Seminar for high schools &
universities, CIO conference, Training workshops, LAMP seminar,
Software Freedom Day event will be hold.
Would you please kindly nominate participants of each economy by July
20th.
