Research Descriptions
 

       Our research is concerned with the design and analysis of algorithms, algorithm visualization, geometriccomputing, web-based computing, web applications software security and vulnerability, application software tools development for collaborative research, bio-computing, compliant control for tele-manipulation and electric scooter, and digital libraries technologies. Not only are we interested in the theory and analysis of algorithms for fundamental geometric and graph-theoretic problems, we are also interested in building a web-based collaborative problem-solving environment for geometric computing,combinatorial computing, and bio-computing. The environment is equipped with a platform independent Java-based user interface, a knowledge managementsystem, a tele-conferencing system, and a computer supportedcollaborative work system. Among other things, it allows for remote compilation and execution, interactive visualization, collaborative research,and distance learning in a distributed manner. We are also conducting research and development of a new compliantcontrol technology applicable to any actuator driven dynamic system without using any force sensor. It will have applications to vibration and active suspension control,rehabilitation robots and master-slave telemanipulators,conducting investigations of large-scale DNA sequence alignment, gene identification and prediction problems in the bio-informatics area and developing geographical information systems application software.
